Officials are warning area residents in the coastal flooded and metropolitan areas in several cities to not drink the water, wash, bathe or brush your teeth or cook with it. Basically the water is unsafe due to raw sewage and other concerns.
CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL OFFICIALS TO VERIFY THIS AND EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WITH THE WATER IN YOUR AREA. Perhaps there will be a run on both Berkey and Pro-pure water filters now?
This is probably the most devastating impact of the storm that is certain to be felt by a large portion of the population. It could cause mass sickness and even death. Escaping inland now might be a better idea in search of clean water. The strong winds, waves, and general flooding were navigable but a contaminated water supply will not be cleaned up any time soon.
