Xi Jinping voted China's President for Life

  1. Not necessarily. The U.S. did not have presidential term limits written into the Constitution until 1947 with the ratification of the 22nd Amendment. The framers, in their great wisdom, did not write in term limits for a reason. Term limits can also mean a short end to GOOD representatives and GOOD presidents. The PEOPLE are supposed to term limit a bad holder of office through ELECTIONS. Perhaps Xi Jinping is a good president for China. I don't know exactly what the situation is or the intricacies for their politics. Lack of term limits do not worry me one bit. Even with term limits, a depraved electorate can vote in tyrant after tyrant ad infinitum. Term limits cannot fix that.

On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.” - Samuel Adams
